Connecting to Francogrid

Voici une liste non exaustive de clients compatibles avec Francogrid.
Here is a non-exhaustive list of viewers compatible with Francogrid (in French).

Information for Mac users

Mac users have a reasonable number of options for connecting to the grid, even for WOAP (web on a prim) with SL viewer 2 and equivalent viewers. As a Mac user my own experiences are summarised below at the time of writing. Download links are provided here ( shown under the 'Télécharger' column).

Mac Viewers / Clients

I haven't tested all Mac clients, so this is a limited evaluation.

Imprudence - Version 1.3.2 - Stable version works well. Not WOAP but capable of displaying web pages with osSetDynamicTextureURL. The later beta versions crash for me.

Phoenix - Version 1 works well.

Dolphin - All versions didn't work

SL Viewer 2 - WOAP capable viewer but really ugly interface

Kirstens S21 - WOAP capable and a nice viewer.

At the moment I'm sticking with Imprudence 1.3.2 (stable) for inworld development and, for any interactive 'web on a prim' development, will use Kirsten's S21

From a user's point of view S21 will render WOAP on prims that are otherwise viewed as textured prims in non-WOAP viewers

Connecting to the Grid

First time users will need to register here.
It's in French but is easy to complete :

Your Avatar's First Name ( Prénom )
Your Avatar's Second Name ( Nom de famille )
Your email address for registration ( Adresse électronique )
Select an avatar style
Check 'J'accepte les CGU' to accept TOS

Then complete the connection details here with avatar first and last name, and password to be used.

Configuring the Viewer

For Mac clients without a grid manager you'll need to configure it to login to the grid. Here's how:

1. Find the viewer in the Applications Folder ( eg /Applications/Kirstens S21.app )
2. Right click the application and select 'Show Package Contents'
3. Click on the 'Contents' Folder that opens in a new Finder window
4. Click on the 'Resources' Folder that opens in a new Finder window
5. Open the file 'arguments.txt' with a texteditor (such as BBEdit or TextEdit)
6. The file will probably be empty so copy and paste the following into the first line of that file with your text editor :

-loginuri http://login.francogrid.org/ -loginpage http://viewer.francogrid.org/

( if there is text already in the file just add it to the end of what is there )

7. Save the file and close it
8. Launch the viewer. You should get a Francogrid splash page, though the grid information at the
bottom may show Agni or another Second Life grid server. Ignore that and login with your
avatar's name and password.
